Somebody asked me the other day when I posted the first couple blogs what did the tired part of the title mean. Well here you go……
When I first got hired back in June 2018 I thought I would have had a lot more support from those that I knew. Most people that I was close with were ecstatic for me. The rest would say congrats and then kind of throw in their opinion of Crestline even though they had no idea what they were talking about. Comments like “I can’t believe they still have a school district and they haven’t combined with anybody” or “every time there’s a decent player there the kid transfers”. And my personal favorite there’s nothing in Crestline when have they ever been good at any sport.
It’s only my second year being a part of Crestline but I’m already tired of listening to people. I can’t even imagine how the residents feel how these kids feel. The more I’m a part of Crestline the more I love it. Just from a community standpoint We had a few businesses in town raise over $4,000 for our basketball program. Not because they had to but because they wanted to. We had people that weren’t even affiliated with the basketball program or even the school for that matter that came out and donated food for our spaghetti fundraiser.
Last year we had kids without the direction of their coach Make sure that another kid from another team scored his first high school points. Which got attention from big time news channels across the state. We had upperclassmen come to me after a neighboring school system lost their football coach and ask what can we do for them. We had upperclassmen suggest to have a moment of silence for a school in our conference because they lost a girl to cancer. We have the most loving and genuine kids that ive been around.
From a basketball standpoint we have a group of kids that are going to have potentially the first winning season in 25 years. After people have transferred and quit on them they’re still showing us how great they are. We have kids that are about to make noise in the tournament because once again they’ve been overlooked by people that know nothing about them and haven’t given them any credit. That’s okay though that’s when Crestlines an these boys are at its best.
So the next time somebody’s about to make a comment about Crestline tell them to hold off because we’re TIRED of listening to it!
Its good to see our kids in our school be a part and of help lead the Crestline comeback!
